After five releases in the label’s catalogue, D_Know invites another artist (other than himself) to present a full release for the first time! For this sixth release, talented young Johannesburg-based producer Black Lake shows us why he is one to look out for. With two original tracks and two remixes, this EP showcases a diverse set of styles indicative of the current South African underground techno scene.

Title track ‘Sculptor’ throws an immediate curveball with its down-tempo, low slung, spacey character. A standout track in the label’s catalogue, this production shows the maturity in the young artist’s repertoire. Perfect for a dark opening set, or even as a closing track after a night of relentless partying, it’s warm bass and dreamy soundscapes make it a versatile piece sure to stick in peoples’ heads. ‘Corvus’ on the other hand kicks in hard straight from the first bar. Keeping with the theme of cerebral textures, it makes for a perfect dance-driven counterpart to the title track. Thereafter, Belgian-based producer and Decoy alumnus Antony Doria puts his spin on the track with a slick rework, whilst label owner D_Know closes out the release with his intense 909-layered interpretation of ‘Sculptor’.
